Victorian Opera Unveils 2025 Season

Australia’s Victorian Opera has unveiled its 2025 season.

First up is “Follies” at Palais Theatre. The works stars Marina Prior, Antoinette Halloran, Adam Murphy, Alexander Lewis, Geraldine Turner, Rhonda Burchmore, Collette Mann, Evelyn Krape, Genevieve Morrow, and Merlyn Quaife. Stuart Maunder directs. Phoebe Briggs conducts.

Performance Dates: Feb. 1 – 6, 2025

Then comes “Mansfield Park” at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Stuart Maunder directs and Phoebe Briggs conducts.

Performance Dates: April 4 & 5, 2025

“The Lyrebird’s Voice” follows at The Round, Darebin Arts Center, and Frankston Arts Center. Elizabeth Hill-Cooper directs and Carlos del Cueto conducts.

Performance Dates: May 8 – 23, 2025

There will be a fully staged version of “Abduction” at Palais Theatre. Constantine Costi directs a reimagining of the famed “Abduction from the Seraglio” with a cast starring Cleo Lee-McGowan as Konstanze and Katherine Allen as Blonde. Chad Kelly conducts.

Performance Dates: August 12 – 16, 2025

Then comes “Katya Kabanova.” Heather Fairbairn directs and Finnegan Downie Dear conducts. Desiree Frahn stars in the title role.

Performance Dates: Oct. 14 & 16, 2025

The season ends with  Martin Wesley-Smith’s “Boojum!” Elizabeth HIll-Cooper directs and Warwick Stengårds conducts. David Hobson stars in the work.

Performance Dates: Nov. 7 – 23, 2025

“Mansfield Park” takes the stage again as part of the Ballarat Opera Festival, which also features “The Big Sing.”
