By David SalazarVictorian Opera, in collaboration with Opera Australia, Perth Festival and Brisbane Festival, will present Jonathan Mills and Meredith Oakes’ “Eucalyptus: The Opera.”
The production will take place at the Palais Theatre, St. Kilda from Oct. 16-19, 2024. Conductor Sir Jonathan Mills AC will lead Orchestra Victoria and a cast starring Desiree Frahn, Simon Meadows, and Michael Petruccelli, in a story story about a modern-day Rapunzel Ellen who meets a stranger that allows her a “glimpse into a world beyond her father’s dominion.”
“It is so exciting to have so many producing partners, singers, music staff and design team all collaborating together with a composer and librettist to bring a new work into existence. At the same time, how humbling is the trust and responsibility of being given this opportunity. All in front of a live audience,” said Michael Gow, who will direct the production.
There will be a live stream available for the showcases. The opera has a duration of two hours with a 20 minute interval.
