Victoria Bond’s ‘Mrs. President’ To Return to NYC

Composer Victoria Bond and librettist Hilary Bell’s “Mrs. President” is set to return to New York’s Symphony Space on April 27, 2020.

The concert performance will feature Valerie Bernhardt as Victoria Woodhull, Scott Ramsay as Henry Ward Beecher, Michael Kelly as Col. James Blood, Katie Hannigan as Roxie, Keely Futterer as Isabella Beecher, and David Charles Tay as Joseph Treat.

March Peloquin will perform at the piano with the composer conducting the performance.

“Mrs. President” tells the real-life story of Victoria Woodhull, a suffragist who ran for President in 1872.

Bond has created a number of unique operas including “A More Perfect Union,” “Clara,” Cyclopes,” “Leopold Bloom’s Homecoming,” “Molly ManyBloom,” “Sirens,” and “Travels.” She has also written two children’s operas, including “Everyone is Good for Something” and “The Miracle of Light.”

Bond is Artistic Director of Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival in New York, which she founded in 1998.
