The Verbier Festival has announced that Nina Stemme, Brandon Jovanovich, and Matthias Goerne will not perform Strauss’ “Die Frau Ohne Schatten.”

The festival announced that the artists were obliged to cancel. As a result, Finnish Soprano Miina-Liisa Värelä will be performing the role of Die Färberin, the role of Der Kaiser will be sung by the tenor Gerhard Siegel, and the Swedish baritone John Lundgren will be Barak in the performance.

The three singers will join Emily Magee, Evelyn Herlitzius, and Bogdan Baciu and Valery Gergiev will conduct the Verbier Festival Orchestra. The performance will be held on July 22, 2019. The opera will be broadcast on medici.tv.

The festival also announced that Matthias Goerne is hoping to perform his next concert on July 25.
