Vegas City Opera to Launch New Season With ‘Ring Cycle’

By Nicolas Quiroga

Vegas City Opera is set to open its eleventh season with a new digital production of Richard Wagner’s “The Ring Cycle” on Dec. 12, 2020 and Jan. 2, 2021.

More than 25 local artists from Las Vegas will be under the direction of Francisco Corredor, who will employ an unconventional approach that takes the audience to some iconic and familiar places in the city.

The epic four-part tale has been condensed into the work’s highlights, totally reinvented with new digital engagement: the story and the leitmotif, as gods, heroes, Valkyries and the maidens of the Rhine roam Las Vegas valley to own THE RING.

There will be two watch party events with the Dec. 12 showcase set to start at 6 p.m. PST. A rebroadcast of this event, which will focus on the first two operas of the cycle, will take place on Jan. 2 when the second watch party, which concludes the saga, will occur.

Las Vegas City Opera provides an enabling environment for audiences in the Las Vegas Valley and shares the excitement and vibrancy of contemporary opera on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube or on the weeb site www.VegasCityOpera.org.
