The George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection” on April 16 and 17, 2024 at the Ateneul Roman in Bucharest.

The showcase will be conducted by Vasily Petrenko and features Katerina Kněžíková and Roxana Constantinescu as the vocal soloists.

The concert kicks off at 7 p.m. local time.

“This work transports you to another world. It is the resurrection of humanity, nature, and spirit, of all emotions,” Petrenko said in a press release for the performance.

“Gustav Mahler’s music speaks to me, much like Janáček’s, with its intensity, beauty, richness, and profound depth. My truly Mahlerian spring couldn’t be better,” added Kněžíková, who will also be performing the symphony later this month in the Czech Republic before taking on Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in Prague.
