Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Karine Deshayes & Juan Diego Flórez Highlight Rossini Opera Festival’s 2021 Season

The Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy has announced the full details of its 2021 season.

The season will open on August 9 at the Vitrifrigo Arena with “Moïse et Pharaon” performed by the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti. The production will be staged by Pier Luigi Pizzi assisted by Massimo Gasparon and will star Roberto Tagliavini, Erwin Schrott, Andrew Owens, Eleonora Buratto, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Alexey Tatarintsev, Matteo Roma, Monica Bacelli, and Nicolò Donini.

Performance Dates: August 9-19, 2021

The company will also present “Il signor Bruschino” at the Teatro Rossini with the Filarmonica Gioachino Rossini conducted by Michele Spotti. The production will star Marina Monzò, Pietro Spagnoli, Giorgio Caoduro, Jack Swanson, Gianluca Margheri, Chiara Tirotta, Manuel Amati and Enrico Iviglia.

Performance Dates: August 10-18, 2021

“Elisabetta regina d’Inghilterra” will be staged at the Vitrifrigo Arena conducted by Evelino Pidò, with the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso. Davide Livermore will direct the production which is set to star Karine Deshayes, Sergey Romanovsky, Salome Jicia, Sonia Prina, Barry Banks, and Valentino Buzza.

Performances Dates: August 11-21, 2021

The festival will stage a new production of the Stabat Mater in a staged version at the Vitrifrigo Arena. Jader Bignamini conducts the Filarmonica Gioachino Rossini and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso and soloists Giuliana Gianfaldoni, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Ruzil Gatin and Riccardo Fassi.

Performance Date: August 20, 2021

The 2021 ROF will close with the Gala Rossini, which will inaugurate the new Auditorium Scavolini, a multi-purpose venue that can host a thousand people for Operas and Concerts and 2,000 people for sports events. The Auditorium is a fruit of the restoration of the old PalaFestival, which up to the year 2005 offered some of the most important productions in the Festival’s history.

The concert will also celebrate Juan Diego Flórez’s 25th anniversary. Michele Spotti will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso with soloists Eleonora Buratto, Salome Jicia, Marina Monzò, Sonia Prina, Pietro Spagnoli, Sergey Romanovsky, Giorgio Caoduro, Jack Swanson, Matteo Roma, Manuel Amati, and Nicolò Donini.

Performance Dates: August 22, 2021

The 33rd Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda,” will star on July 5 and will close on July 19 with the usual Concerto Finale at the Teatro Sperimentale. The pupils will also take part, on August 15 and 18,  at the Teatro Rossini, in the Viaggio a Reims staged by Emilio Sagi and rehearsed by Matteo Anselmi.

The season will also include concerts, with eight programmed to be given at the Teatro Rossini and will include solo concerts from Annick Massis, Maxim Mironov, Erwin Schrott,  Alexey Tatarintsev, Roberto Tagliavini, Anna Bonitatibus, and Nino Machaidze.
