Vancouver Opera Announces Taupe Tuesday Initiative

By Francisco Salazar

Vancouver Opera has announced the return of “Taupe Tuesday.”

For the third year, arts lovers will have an opportunity to experience world-class opera at a reduced price. The promotion is named as a post-Thanksgiving, north-of-the-49th counterpoint to Black Friday. The initiative reflects the creativity that Vancouver Opera has been fostering during its 67-year history.

Tom Wright, General Director of Vancouver Opera said, “’Taupe Tuesday’ has provided accessibly priced tickets for the last two seasons, and we knew that we wanted to bring this program back again this year. This program is an excellent way for us to introduce opera to new audiences who may have otherwise not purchased a ticket. Taupe Tuesday deals this season are 50 percent off A+ to D seats for Tosca on Thursday, October 29; The Barber of Seville on Thursday, February 18; and La Traviata on Thursday, April 29.”

This season the company will perform Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” and Verdi’s “La Traviata.” All Taupe Tuesday deals will be available online at Vancouver Opera’s official website, through the box office, or by phone, starting on Oct. 13 until Sunday, Oct. 18.
