Updates on Opera Companies & Orchestras Throughout Latin America Canceling Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

Latin American theaters have begun to cancel performances due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Teatro Colón de  Buenos Aires has announced that all artistic performances have been canceled through April 19. The performances included “Nabucco,” the Orquesta Académica del Instituto Superior de Arte and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires, among others.

Meanwhile the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, Colombia has postponed all concerts until March 31, 2020. The theater announced it will look for new dates for the performances.

The Teatro Colón de Bogota, also in Bogotá, Colombia has announced that it would cancel its upcoming family concert “Travesía Sinfónica, las aventuras de Corchea y Silencio” on March 14 and 15, 2020.

The Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro has⁩ cancelled Sondra Radvanovsky’s⁩ concert last night and has halted upcoming performances of “La Vida breve” and “Il tabarro.”
