Tulsa Opera Announces New General Director & CEO

By David Salazar

Tulsa Opera announced that Lori Dector Wright is its new General Director and CEO, effective Nov. 6, 2023.

Dector Wright’s career has seen her work with such organizations as Opera San Jose and Sweet Adelines International. She has also led Kendall Whittier, Inc. as Executive Director and is the District 7 City Counselor for the City of Tulsa.

“I am beyond excited to have been invited to lead Tulsa Opera as the company celebrates 75 years of inspiring Tulsans, and the world, with its moving productions, compelling commissions, and unique offerings. Tulsa Opera is the 12th oldest opera company in the United States, a rare jewel in the crown of arts organizations, which I have long admired first as an artist, then as a patron and a volunteer, and now, as a member of the staff. I look forward to collaborating with Maestro Beck, the Board of Directors, professional staff, talented artists, amazing creatives, dedicated donors, enthusiastic audiences, and engaged community members in realizing an even brighter future for this dynamic and distinguished organization,” said Dector Wright in an official press statement issued by the company.

Tulsa Opera’s 2023-24 season kicks off with a production of “The Medium.”
