Trinity Church Wall Street Names New Music Director

By David Salazar

Trinity Church Wall Street has announced that Melissa Attebury will be its new Director of Music.

In her new role, Attebury will be the principal conductor of The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, NOVUS NY, and the Trinity Baroque Orchestra. Attebury joined the company in 2006 as a member of the choir and teaching artist. She has also served as Associate Director of Music and Director of Music Education and Outreach. During her tenure she has been at the core of the outreach program which serves over 750 children across eight public schools. She has also grown the Trinity Youth Chorus, which trains around 100 youth singers every season across a multi-level curriculum.

In her new position, she will continue to work with the new Trinity Choral Scholars Program.

“I’m overjoyed to have the opportunity to lead the music program at Trinity, which has been my beloved home for 17 years,” said Attebury in an official press release issued by the company. “It’s tremendously exciting to imagine the work ahead as we continue to broaden our musical offerings and provide a platform to so many deserving musicians. And as an educator, parent, and daughter of music educators and church musicians, I’m of course thinking about all the new ways Trinity’s education and outreach programs can extend opportunities to young musicians and composers.”
