Pelléas et Mélisande – Teatro Colón, Argentina
Debussy’s only opera gets a new production in Buenos Aires by Susana Gómez. Italian tenor Giuseppe Filianoti returns to the opera stage in the title role alongside Verónica Cangemi and David Maze. Enrique Arturo Diemecke conducts the new production.
Der Rosenkavalier – Teatro Mayor, Colombia
Strauss’ masterpiece makes its Colombian premiere in a new production by Alejandro Chacón. The production stars an international cast that includes Angela Brower, Michaela Kaune, Franz Hawlata, and Anna Virovlasnky. Josep Caballé-Domenech conducts.
Les Contes d’Hoffmann – Musikfest Bremen, Germany
Leonardo Capalbo makes his debut at the Bremen festival in the title role of Offenbach’s operatic masterpiece. He is accompanied by Jessica Pratt in the concert performance as she takes on all four heroines and Robert Gleadow performs all four villains. Marc Minkowski conducts the Les Musiciens du Louvre.
Ali Baba e I 40 Ladroni – Teatro alla Scala, Italy
Liliana Cavani brings a new production of Luigi Cherubini’s rarely performed gem. The production will feature the students of the Accademia, which is done yearly to give them an opportunity to work with a famed director and conductor.
Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov in Concert -Formentor Majorca, Spain
Netrebko and Eyvazov continue on tour performing some of opera’s greatest arias from Verdi and Puccini. This time they make a rare appearance in Spain as their international tour draws close to its grande finale.
