It’s the final the week of the year and that means many companies are off. But there are many New Year’s Galas to keep track of. Here are just a few!

Die Fledermaus – Vienna State Opera, Austria

The Vienna State Opera continues its tradition as it rings the New Year with its classic production of “Die Fledermaus” with Michael Schade and Laura Aikin.  Cornelius Meister conducts the operetta, which is slated to be live streamed and which will also feature special guests.

Die Fledermaus – Bayerische Staatsoper, Germany 

Bo Skovhus, Elena Pankratova, and Sofia Fomina headline the Bayerische Staatsoper’s revival of “Die Fledermaus” continuing the yearly tradition. Friedrich Haider conducts the production by Andreas Weirich.

Silvesterkonzert – Staatskapelle Dresden, Germany 

Christian Thielemann leads his annual Silverkonzert with Angela Denoke, Elisabeth Kulman, and Daniel Behle. The concert, which is scheduled for DVD, will feature music by Heymann, Korngold, May, Benatzky and Grothe. ZDF will transmit the concert.

New Year’s Eve at the Elbphilharmonie – Hamburg, Germany 

Olga Peretyatko-Mariotti headlines a New Year’s Eve gala with Levy Sekgapane singing repertoire by Rossini, Puccini, Verdi, and Donizetti.  James Conlon conducts the sold event with NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester.

New Years Eve Concert – Teatro la Fenice, Italy  

Michael Fabiano and Maria Agresta headline a New Years Eve concert alongside Myung-Whun Chung. The gala which will be transmitted on Rai 1 is set to feature works from Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, Bizet, and Offenbach. The concert will also include Dvorak’s Symphony No.9.
