Seattle Opera’s 2018-19 Season Kicks Off Fall Season, ICAV Ends Run

The summer is winding down and many of the major productions still underway have already been visited. So if anything else, by all means, check out those productions from our previous editions of this article. That said, one company will be kicking off its season this weekend.

As a result, we will provide with three recommendations this weekend in lieu of the customary five. Here they are.

Don Giovanni – Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble

Eric Lindsey and Cole Grissom play the title role of Mozart’s famed opera this Saturday and Sunday. Other cast members include Jonathan Harris, Eric Lindsey, Jenny Lindsey, Angel Azzarra, Jessica Mirshak, Stephanie Kim Johnson, Morgan Manifacier, Gabriel Hernandez, Elyse Kakcek, SarahAnn Duffy, Nobuki Momma, Sung Shin, Hector Mori, and Will Esch. Owen Horsley directs.

Cendrillon – Institut Canadien d’Art Vocal / International Vocal Arts Institute

After three weeks, ICAV draws to a close with a production of Massenet’s “Cendrillon” directed by Joshua Major and conductor Paul Nadler leading the musical forces. The cast includes Maria Lacey, Allegra De Vita, Nicole Levesque, Matthew O’Donnell, Marisa Karchin, Eugenia Forteza, and Elsa Quéron.

The Cunning Little Vixen – Opera Steamboat

Janacek’s youthful piece gets two performances on Friday and Saturday as the company’s opera productions come to a close. Both performances take place at the Julie Harris Theater with the Saturday showcase starting at 12 p.m.

Porgy and Bess – Seattle Opera

Gershwin’s masterpiece kicks off Seattle Opera’s season with showcases on Saturday and Sunday. The production stars Angel Blue and Elizabeth Llewelyn as Bess with Kevin Short and Alfred Walker as Porgy.
