Tomasz Konieczny Leads Met Opera’s ‘Der Fliegende Holländer’

Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” is set to return to the Met for four performances.

The opera, which is set to be performed between May 30 to June 10, will be shown in a production by François Girard, which premiered in 2020.

German conductor Thomas Guggeis will make his Met debut leading a cast that includes Wagnerian bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny in the title role. He will be joined by Elza van den Heever as Senta, Dmitry Belosselskiy as Daland, Eric Cutler as Erik, and Richard Trey Smagur as the Steersman.

The May 30 performance of “Der Fliegende Holländer” will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on SiriusXM Channel 355 and the June 10 performance will be broadcast over the Toll Brothers–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
