By David Salazar

Toledo Opera has announced that it will be presenting a virtual dialogue with the creators of “Blue” in anticipation of the company’s presentation of the work this summer.

The virtual event, which is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. local time, will feature a dialogue with composer Jeanine Tesori and librettist Tazewell Thompson. The conversation will be moderated by Rhonda Swell, who is the director of belonging and community engagement at the Toledo Museum of Art.

Audiences will also get a preview of an episode of Toledo Opera’s documentary “Blue: Stories from Toledo.”

The program will be accessible via Toledo Opera’s Facebook and YouTube Channels.

Toledo Opera will present “Blue” on August 26 & 28, 2022; the work was originally set to be presented on Feb. 11 and 13, 2022 but was postponed due to ongoing concerns over the spread of COVID-19. The work will star Krysty Swann, Allen Michael Jones, Darius Gillard, and Gordon Hawkins.
