Toledo Opera is set to host “Building Trust: A Documentary Film Screening & Panel Discussion” in preparation for its upcoming production of Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson’s “Blue.” 

The film screening and panel will take place on March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center at Lourdes University. The panel will consist of members of the Toledo community and law enforcement professionals. Topics to be discussed are experiences of living in Toledo and building trust between the police and Black residents.

“Blue” follows the story of a Black family in Harlem and analyzes the racial inequality in 21st century America. Thompson’s libretto is inspired by Black literature and real-life events.

Toledo Opera’s production of “Blue” will run August 26 and 28 starring Kenneth Kellogg, Aundi Marie More, and Gordon Hawkins.
