Toledo Opera Receives Major Gift from NEA

By David Salazar

Toledo Opera will receive a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for its season-opening production “Cinderella” by Rossini.

The grant will also be used for the organization’s public community programs.

“Toledo Opera is honored by the National Endowment for the Arts’ ongoing support, which enables us to work closely in partnership with the Toledo community,” said Executive Director Suzanne Rorick in an official press statement. “We are Toledo’s opera company, and without support from institutions like the NEA, we would not have the 65- year reputation of artistic excellence that we do.”

This will be the company’s first-ever production of “La Cenerentola.” It will star Sara Coit as Angelina with David Walton as Prince Ramiro.  Marc Verzatt directs the production. The opera opens on Oct. 6, 2023.
