Toledo Opera Partners With Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation for ‘Opera for All’
By David SalazarToledo Opera has partnered with the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation to present “Opera For All,” a series of free community events in Hancock County this spring.
The series launches on March 6 with a “Family Opera On Wheels” performance of the original children’s opera “The Bear Who Couldn’t Fish” at Armes Hall in the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts in Findlay, Ohio. The event, which includes family-friendly activities beginning at 6 p.m. ahead of the 7:30 p.m. curtain, has already sold out.
The work, with music by Matthew Fossa and libretto by Joshua Borths, weaves environmental education into its storytelling and is directed by Toledo Opera General Director James M. Norman. The company’s 2025–26 Resident Artists, including soprano Sarah Rachel Bacani, mezzo-soprano Danielle Casós, tenor Brady DelVecchio, baritone Rick Hale, and pianist and opera coach Yura Jang, will headline the production.
Additional events in the series include a free “Opera ‘Round Town” presentation at the University of Findlay on April 19 and an “America 250/Veterans Community Concert” at the Findlay Bandshell on May 17. All events are free and open to the public.
The partnership marks the second consecutive year Toledo Opera has brought “Opera On Wheels” to the Findlay community in collaboration with the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts.
“This program is made possible through support from the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation and marks our second year partnering with the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts to bring Toledo Opera’s Opera On Wheels to the Findlay community in a welcoming, family-friendly setting,” said Leah Whitaker, Toledo Opera Development Officer, per an official press release. “Both years, the event has sold out within days of going live on the ticketing site, highlighting strong community enthusiasm and a growing interest in high-quality, accessible arts experiences throughout Findlay and Hancock County.”
