TOC Arts Partners Announces Partnership with Ed Yim
By David SalazarTOC Arts Partners, the executive search and organizational strategy firm founded by Tom O’Connor, has announced a new partnership with Ed Yim.
The firm, formerly known as Tom O’Connor Consulting Group, has served more than 150 arts and culture organizations across 25 states since its founding in 2015, counting among its clients Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Ballet Hispánico, among many others.
Yim arrives at the partnership with a distinguished track record at the heart of New York’s classical music world. Most recently, he served as Chief Content Officer and Senior Vice President of WQXR, where he led efforts to broaden and diversify the station’s audience and deepen its integration into the city’s arts ecosystem. Prior to that, he served as President and CEO of American Composers Orchestra, steering a strategic planning process that erased an accumulated deficit and grew fundraising by 20 percent over three years, with a particular focus on composers from historically underrepresented communities. His earlier career includes senior positions at the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, IMG Artists, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. He holds a BA in Government from Harvard College and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
In his current consulting work, Yim’s portfolio spans new work commissioning for Music Accord, partnership-building for interdisciplinary projects through Fisher LAB, and audience engagement initiatives through Quoted Network.
“While the classical music sector has always needed effective leaders, now more than ever, we must find individuals who have both creative ideas about how to move forward in new ways and the ability to manage change effectively and persuasively,” Yim said per an official press release. “TOC Arts Partners is unique, with a team that has real experience working in the arts. I admire the firm’s customized, personal and strategic approach and their high regard for candidate care in order to put an organization’s best foot forward. I have always loved helping talented people find the right position with the right organization and am looking forward to my collaboration with TOC Arts Partners to do just that.”
