Tobias Picker & Aryeh Lev Stollman to Present Opening Night Spotlight on ‘Awakenings’
By David SalazarComposer Tobias Picker and librettist Aryeh Lev Stollman will take part in an online Opening Night Spotlight event on Sunday, June 7 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. EDT.
The showcase will highlight the real-life couple’s first opera together “Awakenings.” The work would have had its world premiere performance on that night as part of the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’s 2020 slate.
Throughout the event, Stollman and Picker will showcase music from the opera, model photos, designs, and interviews with artists.
The opera is based on a true story in which Dr. Sacks works with survivors of a pandemic during the early 20th century. The production was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19 and the lockdown it imposed around the globe.
