Baritone Thomas Weinhappel and mezzo-soprano Almerija Delic will headline “Confrontations,” a recital on Sept. 10, 2024.
The showcase, set to take place at the Bank Austria Salon in Old Town Vienna, will showcase music by Wagner. Among the highlights of the evening will be Weinhappel’s interpretation of Amfortas in “Parsifal,” matched by Delic’s Kundry. The two will also come face to face in the iconic confrontation between Wotan and Fricka in Act two of “Die Walküre.”
There will also be a duet from “Lohengrin.”
“We show the audience how wonderfully Wagner portrays people in conflict situations,” Weinhappel told OperaWire. “I hope that the audience will take away from the performance the enthusiasm for Richard Wagner’s operas.”
The two artists will be joined by pianist Frank Bronemann as well as Ursula Wies who will present the evening.
