Thomas Hampson, Leah Hawkins, Lawrence Brownlee & Philippe Jaroussky Lead Elbphilharmonie’s 2021 Summer Performances

Elbphilharmonie has announced that it will restart concerts for live audiences in June 2021.

For the purpose of this article, we will focus on vocal performances.

Baritone Thomas Hampson, sopranos Louise Toppin and Leah Hawkins, and tenor Lawrence Brownlee will perform music by Henry Thacker Burleigh, Wilhelm Grosz, Margaret Bonds, William Grant Still, Peter Ashbourne, Hale Smith, Florence B. Price, Henry Thacker Burleigh, Robert Owens, and Kurt Weill. Howard Watkins accompanies on the piano.

Performance Date: June 1, 2021

Soprano Susanne Bernhard and mezzo-soprano Katrin Wundsam will present works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Mark-Anthony Turnage. Markus Poschner conducts.

Performance Dates: June 20 – 21, 2021

Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky will perform works by Claudio Monteverdi, Luigi Rossi, and Antonio Sartorio. Ensemble Artaserse will accompany.

Performance Date: July 7, 2021
