‘Third Bird’ to World Premiere at Guggenheim Museum as Part of ‘Work & Process’ Series

Isaac Mizrahi, Nico Muhly, and John Heginbotham’s new work “Third Bird” inspired by “Peter and the Wolf” will make its world premiere at the Guggenheim Museum as part of its “Work & Process” series.

While paying homage to “Peter and the Wolf,” the storyline of “Third Bird” follows a flying bluebird, a swimming duck, and a running ostrich and explores each character’s individual strengths.

This work is intended for children over the age of five. The 30-minute performances will take place on June 3 at 6 and 7:30 pm, June 4 at 2:30 and 4 pm, and finally June 5 at 2:30 and 4 pm. All performances will be in the Peter B. Lewis Theater. Librettist Isaac Mizrahi will narrator and be joined on stage by Majorie Folkman, Christine Flores, Ramona Kelley, Lindsey Jones, Daniel Pettrow, Derrick Arthur, Norton Owen, Gus Solomons Jr.

All audience members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and wear a mask throughout the entirety of the performance. Pay-what-you-wish tickets are available.
