Théâtre Champs-Élysées Announces Cast Change for ‘The Magic Flute’

The Théâtre Champs-Élysées has announced a cast change for its production of “Die Zauberflöte.”

The organization revealed, via social media, that Florian Sempey, who was originally scheduled to take on the role of Papageno, has withdrawn. In his stead, the company is calling on baritone Florent Karrer to take on the role.

Karrer was previously scheduled to take on the role Le Dancaïre in “Carmen” with the company and performed as “Rigoletto” in 2022. He has also appeared with the Opéra de Rouen, Operami, Clermont Auvergne Opéra, and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, among others.

Karrer joins a cast starring Cyrille Dubois, Regula Mühlemann, Cahterine Trottmann, Jean Teitgen, and Marc Mauillon, amogn others.

The opera opens on Nov. 14 and runs through Nov. 24, 2023. François-Xavier Roth conducts and Cédric Klapisch directs.
