TheaterSquared Announces Major Leadership Change

By David Salazar

Arkansas’ TheatreSquared (T2) is set to undergo a change in leadership this fall.

Per an official announcement, longtime Executive Director/Producer Martin Miller will step down from his current role. Since he took over the role in 2009, T2‘s revenues exceeded expenses, growing from $160,000 to $7.5 million annually.

“Co-leading TheatreSquared has been a privilege, a joy, and an ever-rewarding adventure,” said Miller in an official press statement. “It is wonderful to know that generations of Northwest Arkansans will walk through these doors and experience remarkable art in a space where they truly belong. I’m grateful to Bob, to our amazing team, to the T2 Board, and to all of the generous, risk-taking, and enthusiastic community members who joined us in making this dream a reality. I know that, for TheatreSquared, the best is yet to come.”

In his stead, the company’s board will kick off a succession plan that includes the appointment of an Executive Transition Committee led by Board President Todd Simmons, Esther Silver-Parker, Leigh Hopkins, Judy Schwab, and Bob Ford.

The committee will gather input through conversations with key stakeholders and staff and will announce the next steps in the succession process by the end of August, prior to Miller’s departure.

Miller is set to take over as Executive Director for the McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, NJ.
