Theater Magdeburg Unveils 2024-25 Season

Germany’s Theater Magdeburg has announced its 2024-25 season. Here is a look at the opera and classical vocal showcases.

The Cunning Little Vixen” opens the season in a production by Clara Weyde with Anna Skryleva conducting. The opera stars Giorgi Mtchedlishvili, Weronika Rabek, Aleksandr Nestrenko, Marko Pantelic, Lada Bočková, Rosha Fitzhowle, and Emilie Renard, among others.

Performance Dates: Sept. 7 – Dec. 29, 2024

Svetoslav Borisov conducts Julien Chavaz’s production of “Carmen” with Héloïse Mas and Weronika Rabek in the title role. They are joined by Amy Ní Fhearraigh, Aleksandr Nestrenko, and Giorgi Mtchedlishvili.

Performance Dates: Oct. 19, 2024 – Feb. 21, 2025

“I Capuleti ei Montecchi”  will be directed by Pinar Karabulut. Sebastiano Rolli and Svetoslav Borisov conduct a cast starring Rosha Fitzhowle, Emilie Renard, Weronika Rabek, Aleksandr Nestrenko, and Adrian Domarecki.

Performance Dates: Jan. 25 – May 23, 2025

Sarah Kirkland Snider’s chamber opera “Penelope” will be conducted by Jovan Mitic-Varutti.

Performance Dates: March 7, 2025

Jérôme Kuhn conducts the world premiere of Gerald Barry’s “Salome.” Julien Chavaz directs the opera.

Performance Dates: March 15 – May 10, 2025

The final opera on the program is “La Traviata” in a production by Tamara Heimbrock and conducted by Svetoslav Borisov.

Performance Dates: May 3 – June 8, 2025
