Theater Magdeburg is set to present “Life with an Idiot” by Alfred Schnittke in a new production.

The opera, which is set to premiere on March 7, will run through May 17, 2026 in a production directed by General Director Julien Chavaz.

The showcase will include set designs by Anneliese Neudecker, who together with Chavaz, will create a Kafkaesque circus world “brimming with sex and violence.”

The work will star Gyula Nagy, Alison Scherzer, Timur, Johannes Stermann, Vincent Casagrande, and András Adamik. Paweł Popławski will conduct the rarely performed work.
