Theater for the New City opens the 2026 season with two operas by Leonard Lehrman.

“Sima” stars Kira Neary, Bennett Pologe, Perri Sussman, Samantha Long, and Hannah Grace Hollingsworth.  Choristers include Addie Grant, Michael Jiang, Desi Sandoval, Boaz Katz, Noelle Louis, Lily Nussbaum, Jacob Hollingsworth, Miranda Libanan, Luka Zylik and Niko Zylik. Marsh Shugart. Costume design is by Billy Little. Graphic and video design is by Roy Chang. Lissa Moira and the composer conducts.

Performance Dates: January 8 – 25, 2026

Next is “E.G.: A Musical Portrait of Emma Goldman.” Caryn Hartglass takes on the title role. She is joined by the composer both at the piano and on stage, as male characters throughout the opera. Lissa Moira directs.
