Theater Essen Announces 2024-25 Season

The production of the season will be “Rotkäppchen und der Aufschneider.”
Performance Dates: Sept. 8, 2024-July 9, 2025
Mozart’s “Die Zauberflote” will get a new production directed by Magdalena Fuchsberger and conducted by Christopher Moulds. The production will star Sebastian Pilgrim, Andrei Nicoara, Judith Spiesser, Nicole Wacker, Lisa Wittig, Aljoscha Lennert, and Tobias Greenhalgh.
Performance Dates: Sept. 14, 2024-Feb. 16, 2025
Roland Kluttig and Daniel Cohen conduct Berg’s “Wozzeck” with Heiko Trinsinger, Rodrigo Porras Garulo, Andreas Hermann, Bettina Ranch, Katharina Brehl, Jonas Onny, Losseau Florence, Karina Hasslein, and Deidre Angenent starring.
Performance Dates: Sept. 21-Oct. 18, 2024
Gerry Hungbauer, Raner Mari Rohr, Mercy Malieloa, Anna Beatriz Gomes, Natalija Radosavljevic, Tobia Greenhalgh, Robin Grunwald, Marie-Helen Joel, Karel Martin Ludvik, Jongyoung Kim, Andrei Nicoara, and Christina Clark star in “The Fair Lady.” Tommaso Turchetta conducts.
Performance Dates: Oct. 5, 2024-Feb. 2, 2025
Sebastian Pilgrim, Tobias Greenhalgh, Baurzhan Anderzhanov, Julia Araujo, Natalia Kukhar, Karel Martin Ludvik, and Christina Clark headine Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” Wolfram-Maria Martig conducts.

Andrea Sanguineti and Wolfram-Maria Martig conduct Verdi’s “La Forza del destino” with a cast that includes Jorge Puerta, Bettina Ranch, Antonio di Matteo, Karel Martin Ludvik, Massimo Cavalletti, Stefano Meo, and Astrik Khanamiryan.
Performance Dates: Nov. 9-April 24, 2024
Tommaso Tuchetta conducts Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” with a cast that includes Tobias Greenhalgh, Vincenzo Nizzardo, Liliana de Sousa, and Baurzhan Anderzhanov.
Performance Dates: Dec. 7, 2024-May 15, 2025
Astik Khanamiryan stars in Puccini’s “Tosca” with Xavier Moreno, and Heiko Trinsinger. Andrea Sanguineti and Tommaso Turchetta conduct.

Missy Mazzoli’s “The Listeners” will be directed by Anne-Sophie Mahler. Betsy Horne, Mandla Mndebele, Mercy Malieloa, Aljoscha Lennert, Heiko Trinsinger, Bettina Ranch, Tobias Greenhalgh, and Karel Martin Ludvik star with Andrea Sanguineti and Wolfram-Maria Maritg conducting.

Heribert Feckler and Marie-Helen Joël’s “Yesterdate” will star Christina Clark, Marie-Helen Joel, Brigittw Oelke, Thomas Hohler, Albrecht Ludszuweit, Martin Sommerlatte and Henrik Wager. Heribert Feckler conducts.
Performance Dates: Jan. 30-July 2, 2025
Robert Watson takes on the title role of “Parsifal” alongside Bettina Ranch, Sebastian Pilgrim, Heiko Trinsinger, and Almas Svilpa. Andrea Sanguineti conducts. The new production will be directed by Roland Schwab.

Johan Strauss’ “Karneval in Rom” will star Mercy Malieloa, Aljoscha Lennert, KS. Rainer Maria Rohr, Tobias Greenhalgh, Lisa Wittig, Natalia Labourdette, Ju Hyeok Lee, and Albrecht Kludszuweit. Guido Mancusi conducts.

Harald B. Thor directs a new production of Verdi’s “Nabucco” with a cast featuring Heiko Trinsinger, Alejandro del Angel, Almas Svilpa, Astrik Khanamiryan, and Liliana de Sousa.

Betsy Horne, Sebastain Pilgrim, Natalia Kukhar, Heiko Trinsinger, and Lisa Wittig star in Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier.” Andrea Sanguinetti and Wolfram-Maria Martig conduct.

Performance Dates: May 25-June 25, 2025
Verdi’s “Aida” is set to star Bettina Ranch, Astrik Khanamiryan, Heiko Trinsinger, Sebastian Pilgrim, Baurzhan Anderzhanov, and Tair Tazhi. Andrea Sanguineti and Tommaso Turchetta share the podium.
