Theater Chemnitz Announces 2023-24 Season

Germany’s Theater Chemnitz has announced its 2023-24 season.

Premieres

Maximilian Otto conducts “Cabaret” in a production by Erik Petersen.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16-Dec. 31, 2023

Leonard Evers’  “Gold!” will be directed by Karin Herrmann.

Performance Dates: Oct. 7, 2023

Martinů’s “Die drei Wünsche oder Die Launen des Lebens” will be conducted by Jakob Brenner and directed by Rahel Thiel. 

Performance Dates: Nov. 18-May 20, 2024

Eduard Künneke’s “Der Tenor der Herzogin” will be conducted by Jakob Brenner andAnna Weber. 

Performance Dates: Jan. 27-April 12, 2024

Peter Eötvös’s “Sleepless” will be conducted by Friedrich Praetorius and directed by Dennis Krauß.

Performance Dates: April 27-June 9, 2024

Friedrich Praetorius conducts Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with Aron Stiehl directing.

Performance Dates: June 1-19, 2024

Revivals 

Bizet’s Carmen will be revived.

Performance Dates: Sept. 29-Nov. 22, 2023

Oliver Ostermann and Thomas Winter’s “Spuk unterm Riesenrad” returns to the production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 8, 2023-May 19, 2024

Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” returns in time for the holiday season.

Performance Dates: Dec. 1-26, 2023

Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” will celebrate the New Year.

Performance Dates: Dec. 30, 2023-March 31, 2024

Offenbach’s “Orpheus in the Underworld” returns in a production by Johannes Pölzgutter.

Performance Dates: Feb. 23-March 30, 2024

“The Fair Lady” will be presented.

Performance Dates: March 23-June 15, 2024

“Für mich soll‘s rote Rosen regnen” will be conducted by Jeffrey Goldberg and directed by Matthias Winter.

Jeffrey Goldberg conducts “Zarah 47” in a production by Nils Braun.

Concerts 

Akiho Tsujii, Paula Meisinger, Thomas Kiechle, and Alexander Kiechle star in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Jakob Brenner conducts.

Performance Date: Dec. 31, 2023

Simon Gaudenz conducts Mahler’s Symphony No.8 with soloists Elisabeth Dopheide, Julia Sophie Wagner, Akiho Tsujii, Marlen Bieber, Evelyn Krahe, and Corby Welsh.

Performance Dates: March 6 & 7, 2024
