Theater Bonn has announced its 2019-20 season. Here is a look.

Premiere 

Hermes Helfricht conducts a new production of Sciarrino’s “Inferno Infinito” by Mark Daniel Hirsch. Dshamilja Kaiser is set to sing the role of Maria Magdalena in the new opera.

Performance Dates: Sept. 26-29, 2019

Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” is set for a new production by  Josef Ernst Köpplinger. The production will star Martina Welschenbach, Franz Hawlata, Tobias Schabel, Emma Sventelius, Giorgos Kanaris, and Louise Kemény with  Dirk Kaftan conducting.

Performance Dates: Oct. 6, 2019-Feb. 16, 2020

Guy Montavon directs a new production of Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” and Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci.” George Oniani sings the double bill with Dshamilja Kaiser, Ivan Krutikov, and Mark Morouse in “Cavalleria Rusticana” while Tanya Hurst, Anna Princeva, Ivan Krutikov, Mark Morouse, Giorgos Kanaris, and Boyan Di star in “Pagliacci.”

Performance Dates: Nov. 9, 2019-May 17, 2020

Volker Lösch directs a new production of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” with Karl-Heinz Lehner, Tobias Schabel, Martin Tzonev, Mark Morouse, Thomas Mohr, Martina Welschenbach, Marie Heeschen, Louise Kemény, and Kieran Carrel starring.  Dirk Kaftan conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 1-March 27, 2020

Reinhild Hoffmann directs a new double bill with Manfred Trojahn’s “En Brief” and Beethoven’s oratorio “Christus am Olberge.” Holger Falk sings Trojahn’s piece while Kai Kluge, Ilse Eerens, and Seokhoon Moon star in Beethoven’s piece. Dirk Kaftan conducts.

Performance Dates: Feb. 8-April 11, 2020

Johannes Mertes, Anna Princeva, Martin Tzonev, Anjara I. Bartz, Susanne Blattert, Kai Kluge, and Marie Heeschen star in J. Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” with Daniel Johannes Mayr conducting. Aron Stiehl directs the new production.

Performance Dates: March 8-June 4, 2020

Kagel’s “Staatstheater” is set to star Yannick-Muriel Noah, Marie Heeschen, Louise Kemény, Giorgos Kanaris, Tobias Schabel, Kieran Carrel, Anjara I. Bartz, and Emma Sventelius. The new production will be directed by Jürgen R. Weber with Daniel Johannes Mayr conducting.

Performance Dates: April 25-June 12, 2020

Britten’s “Death in Venice” will get a new production by Hermann Schneider with Hermes Helfricht conducting. Johannes Mertes and Mark Morouse star.

Performance Dates: May 24-June 24, 2020

Musical

Jan Rekeszus, Marie Heeschen, Sybille Lambrich, Dorina Garuci, and Amani Robinson star in a new production of Bernstein’s “West Side Story” with Daniel Johannes Mayr and Hermes Helfricht sharing conducting duties and Erik Petersen directing the new production.

Performance Dates:  Sept. 15, 2019-June 28, 2020

Oper Foyer

Tidrow’s kinderoper “Nils Karlsson Daumling” will be conducted by  Anselm Dalferth.

Revival 

Giorgos Kanaris, Anna Princeva, Marie Heeschen, Louise Kemény, Tobias Schabel, and Emma Sventelius star in a revival of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” with  Hermes Helfricht conducting.

Yannick-Muriel Noah, Susanne Blattert, George Oniani, and Giorgos Kanaris star in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” with  Hermes Helfricht conducting.

Krása’s “Brundibar” returns in Mark Daniel Hirsch’s production.
