Theater an der Wien Postpones Opening of ‘Jenůfa’

The Theater an der Wien has postponed the premiere of Janáček’s “Jenůfa.”

The company announced that due to COVID-19 it was forced to close its doors on Feb. 16, the original premiere date. As a result, the new premiere date is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2022.

Ticket holders will be contacted personally by the ticket office in order to get a refund or exchange their tickets for a new day. Meanwhile, tickets for the performances on Feb. 21, 24, 26, and 28 remain valid.

“Jenůfa” is set to star Svetlana Aksenova in the title role, Nina Stemme, Pavol Breslik, Pavel Cernoch, Hanna Schwarz, Zoltán Nagy, and Alexander Teliga. Marc Albrecht conducts the new production by Lotte de Beer.
