The Walter W. Naumburg Foundation to Present Erin Wagner at Carnegie Hall
By David SalazarThe Walter W. Naumburg Foundation will present mezzo-soprano Erin Wagner in recital on Nov. 20, 2023 at Weill Recital Hall.
The event will feature Wagner alongside pianist Shawn Chang as they take on the world premiere “Joy,” a work by Errollyn Wallen, commissioned by the Foundation. The program also includes Mahler’s “Des Knaben Wunderhorn,” and works by Stefana Turkewich, Shawn Chang (the world premiere of “Adam Cast Forth”), and excerpts from Messiaen’s “Harawi Chant d’Amour et de Mort.”
Wagner won the 2021 Naumburg Vocal Competition in 2021, receiving a $25,000 cash prize and two New York City recitals. She has performed with the Houston Grand Opera Studio and was a member of the Merola Opera Program in 2022.
A graduate of the Juilliard School, she has also participated in Renée Fleming’s SongStudio at Carnegie Hall and the Aspen Music Festival, among others.
