
The Wagner Society to Present Concert Featuring Sadie Cheslak & Alec Carlson
By David SalazarThe Wagner Society of New York will present a recital featuring the winners of its 2025 Singers Competition on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Victor Borge Hall at Scandinavia House.
The program features mezzo-soprano Sadie Cheslak, winner of the Robert Lauch Memorial Fund Award, and tenor Alec Carlson, winner of the Ursula Springer Memorial Endowment Fund Award, joined by collaborative pianist Mitchell Cirker. The artists will perform works by Saint-Saëns, Wagner, Mahler, and Bizet.
“The mission of the WSNY’s Singers Committee is to identify and support the finest emerging Wagnerian vocal talent,” said WSNY Board Member and Singers’ Committee co-chair Cori Ellison, per an official press release. “We are proud to present our 2025 first and second prize winners, mezzo-soprano Sadie Cheslak and tenor Alec Carlson.”
Cheslak is the 2025 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition winner and recipient of the Birgit Nilsson Award of the American-Scandinavian Foundation who has been featured with Wolf Trap Opera and the Merola Opera Program.
Meanwhile, Carlson appeared as Erik in “Der fliegende Holländer” with Teatro Municipal de Santiago and as Max in “Der Freischütz” with Opera Wrocławska.
