The Purchase Opera To Showcase Holiday Special

By David Salazar

The Purchase Opera is set to present Menotti’s famed “Amahl and the Night Visitors” this December.

The showcases are set for Dec. 8 and 9 at The Performing Arts Center. “Amahl and the Night Visitors” is a fixture during the holiday season, often presented all around the United States since its 1951 premiere on an NBC television broadcast.

The performance will feature students of the Conservatory of Music’s Voice and Opera Studies Program.

“We are thrilled to give our students the opportunity to perform this timeless piece, while at the same time providing the community with an approachable, world-class opera experience in a local venue,” Director of Purchase Opera Jacque Trussel said in a press release.

This production is made possible with support from The Emily Grant Opera Performance and Production Fund, The L. Werlinich Opera Production Endowment, the Friends of Music, and the Friends of Opera.
