The Philharmonia Orchestra is set to present “The Bach Choir: The Dream of Gerontius” on May 16, 2024 at the Royal Festival Hall.

The showcase will be conducted by David Hill and features mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston, tenor Daniel Norman, and baritone Roderick Williams as the vocal soloists.

The program includes the world premiere of Roderick Williams’ “Cusp,” which is paired alongside Elgar’s eponymous “The Dream of Gerontius.” “Cusp” was commissioned by The Bach Choir and is based on text by Rommi Smith. The work is intended as a companion piece for the Elgar work.

Here is a clip by Williams talking about the creation of his new work.
