Singapore’s The Opera People will present “Don Giovanni” at the Wild Rice Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre on Nov. 1 and 3, 2024.

The production will be directed by Tan Shou Chen and features the Wayfarer Sinfonietta under music director Lien Boon Hua.

“The themes contained in the Don Giovanni story are so rich and timeless and the conversations orbiting around it continue to shift and evolve each time it is revisited,” said Tan Shou Chen per an official press release. “The music is needless to say masterful and continues to carry some of the most beautiful and loved music of Mozart’s operas. For this staging, I pursue how each of the characters contribute to the privilege enjoyed or exploited by Don Giovanni and the consequences of letting a malevolent figure like Don Giovanni run wild.”

The opera stars Renata Hann Sungwon, Felicia Teo Kaixin, Cherie Tse, Jonathan Charles Tay, Edward Kim, David Tao Chen Ming, Shawn Liew, guest singer Igor Mostovoi, who previously appeared in The Opera People’s production of “The Rape of Lucretia.”
