The Opera Next Door to Present ‘The Old Maid and the Thief’

The Opera Next Door is set to conclude its production of Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Old Maid and the Thief” on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022.

The production, which opened on Sept. 10, 2022 on West 21st Street in New York City, will feature Erin Reppenhagen as Miss Todd,  Juliet Morris as Laetitia,  Cassandra Douglas as Miss Pinkerton, and Daniel Chiu as Bob. It will be conducted by Alejandro Zuleta with Natalie Mack and Cristina Marie Castro directing.

The Sept. 17 performance is set to take place at Willougby Avenue in Brooklyn. “The Old Maid and the Thief” originated as a radio opera back in 1939 before it was later adapted into a theatrical version in 1941. The opera centers on Miss Todd and her downfall.

The Opera Next Door was founded by Colombian soprano Sasha Gutiérrez in 2020 and has presented performances of “St. John’s Passion” and “Così fan tutte,” among others.
