The Metropolitan Opera Guild’s New In-School Opera Tour

By Afton Wooten

The Metropolitan Opera Guild has announced a new in-school education program beginning in March 2022.

The program will consist of in-school opera performances throughout New York and New Jersey for second through fifth graders. Each performance will include four professional singers and a pianist. The presentations will be a half-hour-long staged compilation of opera hits and important characters. Each performance will include interactive segments for both the students and teachers.

The cast is made up of soprano Melanie Spector, mezzo-soprano Melisa Bonetti, tenor Joseph Michael Brent, baritone Young Kwang Yoo, and Eric Sedgwick at the piano.

More information about booking and scholarships can be found by contacting the Guild’s School Program department by email.
