The Met Opera’s HD Festival Among Operas To Experience This Weekend – North America

By David Salazar

There won’t be a ton of opera during Labor Day weekend, but that doesn’t mean that opera lovers can’t get their fix one way or another. So this weekend’s recommendations will buck the trend a bit with the recommendations.

Opera Night – Fellini’s Café

Every Monday night, the Fellini’s Café puts on its opera night with restaurant goers getting a chance to enjoy opera with their meals. Given that this is labor day weekend and you might have some free time on Monday night, this seems like the perfect opportunity to try out this unique experience.

Metropolitan Opera HD Festival

While it is definitely not opera in the truest sense, the Met’s HD festival is the perfect opportunity for audiences to get in touch with some of the company’s most beloved performances of the past. This weekend will feature the final four showcases. On Friday, audiences can see “La Fanciulla del West” starring Jonas Kaufmann and Eva-Maria Westbroek. Saturday will be “La Fille du Régiment” with Javier Camarena and Pretty Yende, while Sunday’s show will be “Luisa Miller” with Sonya Yoncheva and Piotr Beczala. Finally, Monday will be “Adriana Lecouvreur” with Anna Netrebko, Anita Rachvelishvili, and Piotr Beczala.
