The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced that it will produce an expanded film version of “The Factotum.”

The sold-out event, which premiered earlier this month, will be online on the opera company’s official YouTube channel in early spring. The production by Will Liverman and Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj will be showcased in a video production by Endangered Peace Productions in association with JJE Productions by Chicago filmmaker Raphael Nash.

The video will feature the full-length performance, behind-the-scenes footage, and interviews from the cast and crew.

Of “The Factotum,” the Chicago Tribune said it was “an extraordinary event in Chicago’s cultural history, re-imagining the definition of opera.”

“The Factotum” was co-commissioned by the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Houston Grand Opera, with co-productions also featuring Portland Opera and Washington National Opera.

“The Factotum” will be streamed on May 24, 2023.
