‘The Lighthouse’ Coming to Long Beach Opera

By David Salazar

The Long Beach Opera is set to showcase Peter Maxwell Davies’ “The Lighthouse” this month at the New Pacific Visions Space in the Aquarium in Long Beach, California.

The opera, which will get its first performance on March 21, 2020, is based on a true story about three officers who appear an abandoned lighthouse relieve three keepers who have mysteriously vanished. The opera then jumps back in time to watch what has happened to the three lighthouse keepers.

The work will be directed by Andreas Mitisek with Doug Jones, Roberto Perlas Gomez, and Rod Nelman in dual roles. Stephen Karr conducts.

There will be additional performances on March 22, 28, and 29. The show runs for 80 minutes without intermission.
