The Happenstancers will present “Future Pastrole” on Feb. 24, 2024.

The showcase, which will take place at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Toronto, will feature soprano Hillary Jean Young, percussionist Louis Pino, and clarinetist Brad Cherwin. Additionally, Pino will provide sound design and electronics while Billy Wong will do lighting design and Hoi Tong Keung will be the production manager.

“Future Pastore” features Claud Vivier’s “Ojikawa” as its foundation to explore “the imagined pastoral expanses of antiquity and the endless digital landscapes of tomorrow.” “Ojikawa” was written in 1968 and originally featured an ondes martenot instead of a soprano.

Young specializes in performing experimental music, contemporary music, contemporary opera, and electronic music.
