The Grange Festival will open its doors to families for its annual “Family Open Day” on Saturday, May 16, offering children and their families a behind-the-scenes look at one of the UK’s leading summer opera festivals.

Supported by Phillips Law and set against the backdrop of The Grange’s historic house and gardens in Hampshire, the event is designed for children aged 5 to 12 and features singing and dance workshops, stage costume fittings, theatre prop and craft-making, musical instrument exploration, and face painting.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the festival’s historic house and gardens, and are welcome to bring a picnic or visit the pop-up café on the grounds.

“The Family Open Day is a chance for children and their families to discover the magic of opera and theatre in a relaxed and playful way. We hope it inspires young imaginations and delivers living proof that the arts — and opera — are for everyone,” said Grange Festival CEO Tyler Stoops, per an official press release.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time.
