The Dallas Opera has announced that it will be streaming its 2018 production of “Carmen” for free for a limited time.

The video stream is set to debut on Oct. 9, 2020 via the company’s official website. The performance will be available for repeat viewings through Nov. 8, 2020.

The production stars Stéphanie d’Oustrac in the title role with Stephen Costello as Don José, Sara Gartland as Micaëla, and Alexander Vinogradov as Escamillo. Pierre Vallet conducted the production by Sir David McVicar.

“In this time of pandemic, it is crucial that The Dallas Opera continue to explore new ways to deliver outstanding performances to patrons in North Texas and around the globe,” Ian Derrer, the Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO, said in a press release. “We are grateful for the support of our unions which has enabled us to present a truly remarkable performance that would be a highlight in any season.”

The company’s 2020-21 season was originally set to open on Oct. 9, 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. The company’s season is now set to open in March.
