The Dallas Opera has announced that 20 singers have been picked as finalists of the 31st Annual Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition presented, jointly, by The Dallas Opera and The Dallas Opera Guild.

The artists include Lindsay Kate Brown, Jeff Byrnes, Anthony Ciaramitaro, Lauren Decker, Ben Edquist, Calvin Griffin, Pureum Jo, Meghan Kasanders, Andrew Manea, Felicia Moore, Rafael Moras, John Matthew Myers, Diana Newman, Ndumiso Nyoka, Christopher Oglesby, Emmett O’Hanlon, Christian Pursell, Abigail Rethwisch, Reginald Smith, Jr., and Xiaomeng Zhang.

The artists will compete onstage in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas on Thursday, May 2 and May 3, 2019.

The winners will receive a $20,000 cash prize and the prestigious honors will also include the “People’s Choice Award” selected during the Finals Round by audience ballot.

Six finalists will be selected to compete at the Finals Round Concert on May 3, 2019, performing with the Dallas Opera Orchestra and conducted by Maestro Riccardo Frizza.
