The Dallas Opera Cancels Plácido Domingo Gala

By Francisco Salazar

The Dallas Opera has canceled the Plácido Domingo gala.

The company announced via twitter stating, “In light of ongoing developments regarding allegations made against Plácido Domingo, The Dallas Opera has decided to cancel the March 11, 2020 gala, in which he was scheduled to perform. Information on future TDO special events will be announced at a later date.”

The announcement was made after eleven more women accused Domingo of sexual harassment. Only one of the women revealed her name in the new report.

The Dallas Opera is the latest U.S. company to cancel a Domingo event after allegations surfaced about sexual harassment. Previous companies have included the Philadelphia Orchestra and San Francisco Opera. The Metropolitan Opera is awaiting the report from the LA Opera investigation as he is scheduled to perform the title role of Verdi’s “Macbeth” in sold-out performances with Anna Netrebko.
