The Curtis Institute Announces 2022-23 Season

The Curtis Institute has announced its 2022-23 season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal performances.

The season kicks off with a concert featuring the Curtis Symphony Orchestra under Yannick Nézet-Séguin as he showcases the rising stars of the Curtis Opera in a musical tour of France. The showcase will feature numerous opera favorites by Massenet, Debussy, and Gounod, among others.

Performance Date: Nov. 6, 2022 

Curtis Opera Theatre will present Britten’s “The Turn of the Screw” as directed by Chas Rader-Shieber and conducted by Louis Lohraseb.

Performance Date: Nov. 18 & 20, 2022 

The Curtis Opera Theatre is also set to present “The Elixir of Love” with Sarah Ina Meyers in the director’s chair and Christian Capocaccia at the podium.

Performance Date: March 10 & 12, 2023

There will be a performance of two works by Aaron Jay Kernis including “Earth” for solo tenor and chamber ensemble. The other piece on the program will be “Goblin Market” for narrator and sinfonietta.

Performance Date: March 25, 2023

Two song cycles by Faculty Member Richard Danielpour will be featured.

Performance Date: April 19, 2023 

The Curtis Opera Theatre’s final showcase will be “Ariodante.” Omer Ben Seadia directs and David Stern conducts. The opera stars Evan Gray, Anastasiia Sidorova, Jason Kakuk, Joseph Tancredi, Sarah Fleiss, Emilie Kealani, Lucy Baker, Benjamin Schaefer, Juliette Tacchino, Dalia Medovnikov, and Sophia Maekawa.

Performance Date: May 4 – 7, 2023 

There will also be several student, graduation, and faculty recitals throughout the year.
