The Cleveland Orchestra has announced the postponement of its Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Concert and Community Day due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19.

The showcase, which was set for Jan. 16, 2022, will now take place on June 4, 2022 at Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Concert Hall.

The performance will feature soprano Jacqueline Echols and conductor Vinay Parameswaran as they take on music by Dolores White, Mary D. Watkins, Brian Raphael Nabors, William Grant Still, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, John Rosamond Johnson, and Carlos Simon. The showcase will also feature a number of traditional songs.

Audiences will also be able to enjoy the 2018 celebration online between Jan. 17 and Feb. 28, 2022.

This year’s performance will be sponsored by community access partner KeyBank and by Medical Mutual.
